Why enterprises are choosing Proxmox over VMware and Hyper-V
No hidden costs. Proxmox VE is open-source (AGPLv3) with unrestricted access to all features. Only pay for the support and services you need.
No paywalls or feature restrictions. Clustering, HA, backup, SDN, and live migration are part of the core platform.
Fully auditable codebase means no surprises. Security patches and updates are tested and transparent.
Single platform for VMs (KVM) and containers (LXC). Full control over hardware and software with no restrictive HCLs.
Key Features: Each Proxmox VE node runs in its own network rack with direct rack-to-rack connectivity for enterprise-grade redundancy and performance
This configuration demonstrates Proxmox VE's flexibility with Ceph distributed storage using 25Gbit HA paths for high-availability clusters across multiple racks
1Gbit Ethernet for cluster management and monitoring
25Gbit High Availability paths for distributed storage
10Gbit Ethernet for virtual machine traffic

Everything you need to know about Proxmox Subscriptions.
A Proxmox subscription provides access to professional support services and is a service programme designed to help IT professionals and businesses keep their Proxmox deployments up-to-date. Each subscription includes access to the Proxmox Enterprise Repository, stable software updates, technical support based on your subscription level, and email notifications about new packages.
The Proxmox Enterprise Repository is the default, stable, and recommended repository for production deployments. It provides thoroughly tested software packages, stable updates that won't break your systems, security patches, and regular maintenance updates. We recommend using it for all production servers.
As an authorized Proxmox reseller, Rackzar makes it easy to purchase subscriptions. Visit my.rackzar.com/store/proxmox-subscriptions, call us at 087 550 1553, email sales@rackzar.com, or book a free consultation call. After purchase, you'll receive a welcome email with your subscription key and activation instructions.
Log in to your Proxmox web interface, select your node, click the "Subscription" tab, then click "Upload Subscription Key" and enter your key. Each subscription key is bound to your server's unique "Server ID" and is regularly checked for validity.
Go to your Proxmox web interface, select your node, and go to the "Summary" tab. The CPU name and socket count will be listed there. A CPU socket is the physical connector on the motherboard where a CPU is installed. A dual-processor server has 2 CPU sockets, even if each CPU has multiple cores.
Each physical server needs its own subscription containing the right CPU socket count. Each subscription key is bound to the unique "Server ID" of your server. For example, if you have 3 physical servers each with 2 CPU sockets, you need 3 separate subscriptions, each covering 2 CPU sockets.
In a Proxmox cluster, all nodes need the same subscription level. You cannot mix different tiers. For example, a 3-node cluster with 1 CPU socket per node requiring Standard subscriptions needs 3x "Proxmox Standard Subscription 1 CPU/year" – one for each node.
Subscriptions include: Enterprise Repository access, installation support, usage and configuration assistance, diagnosis and troubleshooting, and bug reports/fixes for Proxmox packages including Ceph. NOT included: modified packages, third-party software, code development, system design, security rules, backup strategies, or data recovery.
Premium, Standard, and Basic subscriptions receive support via the Proxmox Customer Portal at my.proxmox.com (English or German). Community subscriptions use the public forum at forum.proxmox.com. Rackzar also provides local South African support – contact sales@rackzar.com for details.
Information about new packages is sent via email to the root account. All updates are displayed in the web interface with changelogs. Updates can be applied directly through the web interface with just a few clicks.
Yes! The 'proxmox-offline-mirror' tool manages subscription keys for air-gapped systems or systems without internet access. You need a subscription key for Proxmox Offline Mirror itself. Contact Rackzar at sales@rackzar.com or 087 550 1553 for details and pricing.
Subscriptions are based on the number of physical servers and their CPU sockets. Each physical server requires its own subscription, priced per CPU socket. In clusters, all nodes need the same subscription level. The subscription period is one year (12 months) from purchase.
Nested virtualisation is when you run a hypervisor (like Proxmox) inside a virtual machine instead of on real hardware. Running Proxmox in such a nested setup is not covered by the support agreement.
Each subscription level includes a certain number of support tickets (e.g., three for Basic). If you run two servers with two Basic Subscriptions (each with three tickets), you get three tickets for each server, six total.
Your servers will continue to run without interruption. Proxmox never stops working. However, you'll lose Enterprise Repository access and technical support. You can switch to the community repository for updates. Subscriptions are for support and updates, never ransomware.
Yes! You can easily upgrade during your subscription period. Only the difference between subscription prices is charged. Contact Rackzar at sales@rackzar.com, call us on 087 550 1553
Downgrades from a higher to lower subscription level are not possible during the one-year period. However, you can cancel after one year and order a new subscription level when you renew.
When purchased through Rackzar, prices are displayed in South African Rand (ZAR). VAT will be added if applicable. All prices are net prices with a 12-month subscription period from purchase date.
Redistributing software packages received under the Subscription Agreement to third parties or using subscription services for third-party benefit is a material breach, even if open-source licenses permit distribution. This doesn't interfere with individual package license rights.
We don't support: modified packages, third-party software, community projects, code development, system/network design, security rule design, backup/recovery strategies, data recovery, or high availability design. Technical support only covers the latest stable release. Technology previews aren't supported in production.
Rackzar offers subscriptions for three Proxmox products: Proxmox Virtual Environment (VE) for virtualisation, Proxmox Backup Server for enterprise backup solutions, and Proxmox Mail Gateway for email security. Each has four subscription tiers: Community, Basic, Standard, and Premium.
