About Our Network

Rackzar operates AS329206, providing robust, redundant connectivity across South Africa's premier data centres

Network Overview

Rackzar's autonomous system (AS329206) is a Network Service Provider (NSP) operating across South Africa with an open peering policy. Our network is designed for reliability, performance, and scalability.

  • Carrier-neutral infrastructure
  • Multi-homed connectivity
  • Native IPv4 and IPv6 support
  • 24/7 NOC monitoring

Open Peering

We maintain an open peering policy to ensure optimal routing and performance for our customers. Our presence at major South African internet exchanges enables direct, low-latency connections.

  • Open peering at IXPs
  • Private peering available
  • BGP best practices
  • Route optimisation

Network Security

Engineered for uptime: layered network security, RPKI-validated routing, strict prefix filters and diverse upstreams. Private VLAN isolation and a dedicated management plane with role-based access.

  • DDoS mitigation
  • RPKI validation
  • BGP security filtering
  • 24/7 security monitoring

Redundant IP Transit and Multi Homed BGP

Rackzar uses redundant IP Transit Providers (IPT) with upstream connectivity from Workonline and Agile, two of the largest IP transit networks in Africa. With multi homed BGP, we can optimise routing and improve resilience, keeping traffic flowing even during upstream incidents.

More information on our upstream network can be found below.

Carrier Grade Networking Hardware

Building a world class network takes more than good intentions. It requires serious capital investment and a refusal to compromise on quality. Lower cost alternatives may exist but they often come with hidden tradeoffs like inconsistent latency, periodic packet loss and a higher risk of congestion or downtime during peak demand.

The same applies to hardware choices. Cheaper vendors and x86 based deployments can look attractive on paper but they frequently come with shortcomings and lack feature parity compared to purpose built platforms designed specifically for high performance networking.

We chose to invest in Juniper and Arista because our clients depend on connectivity they can count on every time.
